Honda’s maiden small car, named Jazz, will be rolled out in India by mid-2009. Jazz is one of the most awaited Honda cars to be lauched in the country as HOnda cars have been widely acknowledged by the INdian car buyer over the last decade given their reliability, economy and performance. Jazz is expected to be powered by a specially-developed 1200cc engine. Going by the current trend amongst premium hatches, the Jazz will be competing directly with the Skoda Fabia, the awaiated Fiat Grande Punto and Hyundai i20.

Honda Siel Cars India has decided on the tentative date following the realization that the small car segment in the domestic automobile sector has been seeing an unprecedented boom. The company is expected to price the vehicle at around Rs 5.5 lakh. So all in all, the Honda Jazz looks all set to "Jazz" up the market in 2009.

Mahindra Luxury car XYLO

Utility heavyweight Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) is launching another multi-utility vehicle Xylo, its most ambitious project after Scorpio, launching in earlier 2009.
The XYLO will be unveiled on January 13,2009 and will be open for customer bookings a day later. The much awaited Mahindra XYLO is the most anticipated product from the Mahindra stable since the Scorpio.

Hyndai Avante Sedan car

Hyundai Avante shall be available in India by mid of 2009. It is a mid-segment car. The new model was launched in India earlier this year at the Delhi Auto Expo 2008. Hyundai currently has only one car in this segment and a new model shall give a face-lift to the existing product portfolio. It shall be pitted against successful sedans in India like Honda Civic, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla, and Chevrolet Optra.

General Motor Cruze car

A new mini-car, currently being developed on a brand new platform, will also be rolled out of its Talegaon plant next year. Despite the on-going downturn in the Indian automobile sector, General Motors India says its expansion plans are on track, and the company will launch its sedan – the Chevrolet Cruze – in the country simultaneous to its introduction elsewhere in the world in the middle of 2009. It will be produced at GM’s plant in Halol. General Motor Chevrolet Cruze is expected to launch in India by the late of 2009. Its expected is around 12-15 lakh. While the Optra highlighted its Korean roots on the design front, the Cruze looks like All- American muscle. The interiors on the concept looked futuristic and we expect much of it to be carried over to the production version. For the Indian market the Cruze will be offering two engine options. A 1.8 litre petrol and a 2 litre diesel.





Skoda Roomster MUV car

Skoda's small car for India is still a few years away, the Roomster MUV will be launched in the country in the earlier of 2009, with prices starting at around Rs 8 lakh. Both petrol and diesel variants will be launched. While the Roomster would be in the same segment as the Toyota Innova, we expect the Skoda MUV to be a bit more oriented towards private use, and may be targeted more at individuals rather than fleet operators.





FIAT BRAVO car

After Fiat's major investments in its Ranjangaon facility, Fiat’s Bravo hatchback will be launched soon in India. Fiat Bravo is a medium segment car. With its thoroughly European looks and distinctive charm, the Bravo is expected to be a hit amongst young urban Indians. Fiat Bravo expected price is around 6-7 lakh. Fiat Bravo expected to hit the Indian road in Jan, 2009. Good interiors, ample creature comforts and an expected 1.9-litre Fiat Multijet engine, the car should move as well as it looks. Other engine options may include an 1.6-litre petrol engine that will dish out 90PS in its mildest state of tune. There are chances of the commonly seen and shared 1.3-litre diesel engine being employed in the Bravo as well. Competing with the Fabia and bigger sedans, the strengths of the Bravo will be oodles of space on the inside and characteristic Fiat handling qualities.





NEW SKODA SUPERB car

Skoda's luxury-segment car, the Superb, didn't make too many waves when it first arrived in India. But Skoda plans to fix that in the upgraded version expected to launch in a few months. With space and comforts easily comparable to an EClass Merc, the Superb costs half as much, making it the perfect luxury car for those not obsessed with brand image. And with the new design dramatically improving the old car's plainjane looks, the Superb seems to be set to do just that. This is high segmant car. Its expected to Launch In India by March 2009. New Skoda superb car will cost around Rs 20 lakh.




CHEVROLET BEAT car

The Chevrolet Beat was first at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, and it will be interesting to note that of the 3 concepts displayed, the Beat was built in India. It can be seen as an evolution of GM's current international small car, the Spark. Designed in South Korea and powered by a 1.2- litre turbocharged petrol engine, the Beat paves the way for a new generation small cars and might just be the new affordable-smallpeppy car for young India. Although the production version will differ a lot from the radical concept seen in pictures, one can expect the baby Chevy to change GM's fortunes in India. The Cherolet Beat is a low segment car. It is expected in India by Mid of 2009. Chevrolet Beat cost around Rs 3 lakh.




NEW TATA INDIGO car

The new Tata Indigo borrows design directly from the new Indica Vista. The TATA Indigo has been one of the top sellers in the entry-level sedan segment and with this new stylish look, it will simply add more charisma to this already popular car. Going by the Vista, the new Indigo will most likely have the 1.2-litre Saffire petrol and the 1.4 Quadrajet diesel engine. With Nano and the new Indigo, TATA Motors will be a significant player this year on the Indian automobile scene.It is a mid segment car. Tata Indica will launch in India by March 2009. The new Tata Indigo cost will be around Rs 5-6.5 lakh.
